Here we present eleven completed projects, showing the initial design and multiple views of the finished projects, from locations throughout eastern and central Massachusetts. Each project demonstrates different challenges and design goals, providing a representation of our range of services.
Sudbury Project
This client was pleased with how we listened to what she dreamed of as a perfect garden for her. She wanted a design with a cottage feeling but was in scale with her large home. Attention to detail in the hardscape and lush plantings create a relaxing and welcoming setting for her home.
Wellesley Project
This Wellesley client was totally reconstructing their home inside and out and we needed to work with their Architect to integrate the inside and outside spaces. A long list of family needs and a challenging site made for a fun project with many pieces to deal with in a complicated puzzle. Natural masonry materials and lush plantings made for a beautiful but also very functional yard for this family.
Cambridgeport Project
How do you design a garden for one family in a space that was created originally for a two family home? This long, linear site provided a challenge especially with the list of requirements that the client wanted dealt with in their garden. By breaking up the space into "rooms" we gave the client a series of spaces that would serve each of the unique purposes that they expected the garden to accomplish.
A patio space for entertaining, a water feature for its relaxing affect, a small lawn area to lie on while also hiding thousands of crocuses for spring is just the beginning of the secrets this garden holds for its owner as they enjoy the seasons.
Hopkinton Project
This Hopkinton client had utilized our services on their first home in town so when the time came to do this project they called us. Working closely with the homeowner we designed many unique features into this multi level property. Large trees were installed to provide screening on one side of the property while the connections to adjacent conservation land were emphasized.
Masonry detailing and a large pallet of plant materials give this garden year round interest and provides a setting that ties the large house structure into the surrounding landscape. Features like the swimming pool and the large, level lawn areas provide great entertaining space for parties large and small. The terraced gardens in back provide a protected area for the client's interest in more delicate plants and vegetables.
Canton Project
This client in Canton Massachusetts wanted a formal garden where they could relax but also take an active role, since their love is gardening. By developing the plan first, it allowed the Client to view the possibilities their small property held while also providing a guide for the construction.
When a plan is done, it allows the client to plan a projects implementation as budget or individual schedules allow.
Downtown Natick Project
This client lives in an urban section of Downtown Natick and had a limited amount of land to work with and lots of traffic noise from nearby Route 135. The driving force behind this design was to create a very unique garden space that, while functional, was also very distinctive, providing an oasis for their enjoyment. An existing Dogwood was saved as a focal point and is highlighted by an adjacent fountain that also provides white noise to cover the traffic sounds.
Cambridge Project
When a client spends most of his time in a plane with business offices in Boston and California, time at home is VERY valuable and this Cambridge client needed a garden space right outside his door that was relaxing for him and his wife. The large glass doors on the back of the house provide a frame for the view of the garden from inside. The patio and fountain areas provide the relaxing outdoor spaces to sit and relax.
Natick Patio Project
Sometimes a client has a space on their property that they know has potential but they cannot figure out the best way to utilize that space. This Natick Client had such a space in a lower section of their yard where a contractor had dumped fill from a recent addition to the house. Our design team worked with the client to determine what the family needed from their outside space and determined a large patio with a sitting wall and a variety of plantings was what was needed.
Wayland Condo Landscape Project
A small space is a perfect example of one that requires careful planning since every square inch is valuable and there is no room for waste. Sometimes a small space can take longer to design since every detail needs to be under the microscope. We have years of experience working on small gardens all over Eastern and Central Massachusetts.
Many people live in Condominium complexes with multi-unit structures all closely situated to one another that typically provide very limited, private, outdoor space. This client contacted us to redesign their space that was paved almost entirely in red brick with little else. While utilizing some of the brick in a patio, we added plants and natural stone to soften the hard edges of the fencing and timber walls that were commonly owned.
Waltham Landscape Project
This Waltham client visited our booth at the New England Flower Show looking for a firm to work with them on their project. This was their first experience with working with a Landscape Design Firm and we explained that we begin by developing a master plan for a client and then can phase in the projects implementation in a organized way based on the plan.
We contracted with them for the design and based on our detailed interview process and a series of magazine photographs they shared with us, we designed a space that looked just the way they wanted and functioned just as they imagined. Three years of annual construction projects saw the complete implementation of the design. They have been enjoying there garden for many years now.
Medfield Landscape Project
All design projects do not need to look at an entire property but can focus on one particular area that needs a fresh look. This Medfield client needed a new approach to their front entry and we designed this rambling bluestone garden walk surrounded with a four season collection of plantings.
